Brian Casey
Dublin-born Brian Casey is GOAL’s Emergency Co-ordinator, which entails him being amongst the first on the scene of a disaster to direct and plan GOAL’s response. Brian has been witness to some of the most heartrending scenes imaginable, and some that can barely be imagined.
In situations of the very worst kind, invariably with time being of the essence, Brian must operate with a cool head and plan how best GOAL can help victims and survivors.
During his 10 years with GOAL, he has worked in Angola and in the similarly war-ravaged Darfur region of Sudan - as well as in Bangladesh (2007) and Burma (2008) in the aftermath of cyclones. He was amongst the first representatives of an aid organisation to arrive on the scene in Ethiopia in 2008, during a life-threatening drought situation in the country.

Brian headed up a GOAL emergency response team after the floods in India in 2008 and, during the following year, he was in Zimbabwe in the advent of a cholera outbreak and in Kenya where entire populations had been displaced by post-election violence.
Brian travelled to the scene of an earthquake in Indonesia in 2009 and the following January, he headed GOAL’s response to the devastating quake in Haiti, where on right, he can be seen coordinating the delivery of a consignment of GOAL aid into the capital Port-au-Prince.
In mid-2010, Brian went to drought-ravaged Niger, to evaluate and plan a response to a rapidly developing food-shortage, and from there he travelled directly to Pakistan during the massive post-monsoon flooding.
