Cholera Response
A deadly cholera epidemic broke out in Haiti in late October 2010.
As part of our response to this emergency, GOAL provided water, sanitation and hygiene promotion in Gressier, and in the 38 camps (approximately 57,000 people) under our care in Port-au-Prince, as well as the general community in GOAL’s area of operation in the city.
We provided adequate sanitation by building latrines and wash blocks as well as supplying hygiene products such as water purification tablets, rehydration salts and soap.
GOAL continues to respond to the cholera epidemic in 21 camps across Port-au-Prince by building latrines, and providing hygiene response activities. We are also supporting health response centres in a number of camps, in cooperation with a partner organisation.
