The 2011 GOAL Dublin Ball
Irish rugby star, Jamie Heaslip, made a special guest appearance at last year’s GOAL Ball on Friday, May 13th, delighting more than 330 guests packed into the Burlington Hotel for the popular annual fundraiser.
Heaslip, who travelled to Kolkata with GOAL in late May to visit some of their projects with the poor, dropped by following Leinster’s triumph over Ulster in the semi-final of The Magners Cup at the RDS earlier that evening, and was interviewed on stage by RTE broadcaster, Michael Lyster, about his support of GOAL, Leinster’s chances in the Heineken Cup final, and his trip to India.
With Mary Kennedy acting as MC, the Ball was another hugely enjoyable evening, commencing at 7.30 p.m. with a Tia Maria drinks reception, followed by dinner, live music and dancing into the small hours.
Other notable guests included former Irish rugby international Shane Byrne and well-known designer and inventor, Damini Kumar. Julie Price from Glenageary won the Best-Dressed Lady competition.
The evening also included an auction some very special prizes expertly conducted by Chief Executive of Robert J Goff & Co., Henry Beeby, who cajoled and coaxed guests to bid for nights away in some of the top hotels in the country, sports goods, concert tickets and much more.
All proceeds, as ever, went towards our work with the poorest of the poor in the developing world.
