The 2011 GOAL UK Ball
Tennis star Conor Niland, who so narrowly lost out in the first round of Wimbledon a few days later, made a special guest appearance at the 2010 GOAL UK Ball, which was held at the Millennium Mayfair Hotel in London on Saturday, June 18th.
Niland was joined by former Wimbledon champion Pat Cash and ex-US tennis great, Peter Fleming, all GOAL Patrons and all of whom attended the popular event to help GOAL raise money in support of our ongoing aid efforts throughout the developing world.
All three stars have had a close association with GOAL for many years with Cash enjoying a relationship with the organisation for well over two decades, visiting our programmes in Kolkata, India, on several occasions. He is currently President of GOAL UK.
More than 250 people attended the Ball, which began with a champagne drinks reception in the foyer of the Millennium Mayfair, followed by a sumptuous three-course meal in the ballroom.
Entertainment on the night was provided by popular cover band, ‘Earth Wind For Hire’, while DJ Oisin Lunny kept guests dancing until a very special after-ball party at the Hard Rock Café.
A number of fundraisers took place during the evening, including an auction expertly conducted by Nick Carter of Lots Road Auctioneers. The auction itself helped to generate more than £38,000 and all monies raised on the night will, as always, go towards supporting GOAL’s many emergency and development programmes in the 13 countries where we are currently operating.
