Healthcare
GOAL Ethiopia’s healthcare programme is run through its rural development programmes in Borena, West Haraghae and Sidama.
GOAL trains and engages community development workers as well as the local clinic and health staff to tackle issues such as poor reproductive health, improving the nutritional status of children under five and pregnant and lactating mothers.
GOAL is seeking to change the health-related behaviour of pregnant women and mothers with young children. We are also providing greater access to quality health services, to help reduce the high incidence of serious illness and mortality amongst that broad grouping
In Sidama, GOAL has set up care groups through its child survival programme that are trained in the areas of infant and young child feeding and malnutrition, and in the prevention of diarrhoeal disease and malaria.
GOAL’s WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) programmes also aim to reduce disease and improve health outcomes for the same communities.
GOAL Ethiopia also responds to epidemics and outbreaks through its Humanitarian Response programme.
