GOAL Mile breaks new ground
1 January 1970
The GOAL Mile breaks new ground this Christmas with the prisoners of Cloverhill Prison in Dublin staging the charity event for the poorest of the poor. Now in its 30th year, the GOAL Mile, traditionally held at venues throughout the country at and around Christmas Day, has proven to be a great fundraiser for the aid agency, who are poised to celebrate 35 years in existence in 2012.
“We would love more organisers to come forward and make it a truly countrywide event,” said GOAL CEO, John O’Shea, who expects that GOAL Miles will be held at more than 90 venues this Christmas.
“We are thrilled that the prisoners have committed to the event.”
