The Leinster duo were travelling with GOAL CEO, Barry Andrews, and Operations Manager, Conor Elliott, and were hosted by the GOAL Ethiopia team, headed by our country director, John Rynne.
Their trip to Ethiopia with GOAL was sponsored by Bank of Ireland.
On Tuesday, Leo and Ian visited GOAL’s ChildSPACE project, which works closely with children working and living on the streets of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia's capital city.
As part of this, they spent some time at GOAL’s drop-in and rehabilitation centre, where we provide children with a range of services, including education, medical treatment, sport and recreation and shower and clothes-washing facilities. They also learned how GOAL teaches the children new skills, finds them employment and, in some cases, reunites them with their family.

On Wednesday, they flew to Dolo Ado in southern Ethiopia, to see our work at Buramino refugee camp. GOAL is providing nutrition and health services to thousands of Somali refugees in the camp, with a particular emphasis on the most vulnerable members of the displaced population i.e. children under five, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers.
