ORGANISING YOUR OWN EVENT
Not
long after Haiti was struck by a devastating earthquake on January
12th, 2010, little Liam Kervick from Maypark Lane, Waterford, decided
that he wanted to help some of the survivors.Although just six years of age, Liam understood the terrible situation that the poor people of Haiti had found themselves in - and he decided he would try and raise some money for GOAL to go towards those who were suffering.
True to his word, Liam organised a sponsored walk and a few weeks later he walked a distance of five kilometres in the local park cheered on by family and friends - and raised an amazing €762.20 for our work in the beleagured Carribean nation.
Liam's determination and moral conscience is just one example of the many ways that people from all over Ireland and overseas use their initiative to raise money for GOAL's work in the developing world every year. Whether it be a sponsored walk, a coffee morning, karaoke night, golf classic or a soccer match, the options are endless. Check out our A-Z list below for some ideas.
If you are thinking of organising an event, we can provide information, posters and leaflets to help you promote it locally. Email fundraising@goal.ie, or call our fundraising department on 01-2809779 for further details.
And remember, if your chosen event is suitable for raising sponsorship online, you can register the event on http://www.mycharity.ie/charity/GOAL.
