Tag Rugby for GOAL
GOAL was honoured earlier this year when we were selected as the chosen charity for the second annual London Tag Rugby Championships, with the event itself taking place across one super-charged day of rugby, entertainment and fun recently in south-west London.
Held at Grasshoppers RFC in Osterley, the 2011 event raised vital funds for GOAL's 'Horn of Africa' appeal, where we continue to provide relief to thousands of refugees fleeing famine in Somalia. Once again, the championship was an outstanding success, with organisers confident that it will grow in size and stature in the coming years.
Congratulations to eventual winners, 'D.T.F.', representing the Tooting Bec Common Tag Rugby competition that defeated Gladstone Park to claim the 'Best Team in London' title for 2011.
The tournament consisted of 12 champion teams representing Finsbury Park, Gladstone Park, Highbury, Rotherhithe, Southwark Park, Tooting Bec Common and Wandsworth.
