Transitional Shelter
GOAL's transitional shelter programme in Haiti is now complete. It formed part of our crisis recovery efforts in the aftermath of the earthquake of January 12th, 2010.
As part of this programme, we constructed 2,000 transitional shelters for 2,000 households left homeless (circa 10,000 people) in Port-au-Prince and Gressier.
These new homes are being occupied by some of those who were left homeless by the devastating quake, providing them with suitable protection from storms, rain and floods that regularly batter the region.
We also engaged in the construction of 10 child-friendly structures to be used as temporary schools and community centres.
