Water, Sanitation and Hygiene
GOAL is currently enhancing water and sanitation facilities in rural communities and schools in the capital Freetown, and in Kenema in the south-east of Sierra Leone, and supporting emergency work on infrastructure in deprived urban areas.
We are working to raise general public awareness of good hygiene practices, while strengthening the ability of the local populations to maintain the new amenities.
We are also refurbishing health centres, and training schoolteachers, pupils, and health workers in best hygiene practices.
We are establishing water and sanitation and hygiene promotion committees in each area, and supporting them in managing, operating and sustaining the new service infrastructures.
