GOAL's work in Honduras

Honduras is a breathtakingly beautiful country of pristine beaches, blue oceans, lush jungle, rushing rivers and towering mountains. Unfortunately, because of its tropical to subtropical climate and the chronic unemployment of its people, it is also prone to extremes of weather and is home to extreme poverty.
GOAL started working in Honduras in 1998, when the country was devastated by Hurricane Mitch. At least 5,000 people were killed and 70 per cent of the country's crops were destroyed. The damage was estimated at $3bn, setting development back by decades.
Since then, we have responded to every natural disaster that has occurred there.
