Guests
attending this year’s Dublin GOAL Ball at The Burlington
Hotel on Friday, May 14th, were treated to one of the most
enjoyable nights on the 2010 Dublin social calendar, while
raising thousands for some of the world’s poorest
people.
Hundreds of people attended on the night, including model
Andrea Roche, tenor Paul Byrom, broadcasters Mary Kennedy
and Michael Lyster, as well as many first-time Ball attendees.
Ms. Kennedy’s
night was made even more special when she was selected as
a joint winner of the ‘Best-Dressed Lady’ competition
along with Ms. Helen Coonan, with the Nationwide presenter
winning an overnight stay and treatment at Rainforest Day
Spa in Enniskerry Co. Wicklow, while Ms. Coonan was presented
with a voucher for Anastasia Boutique.
Ms.
Vanessa Beeby was the lucky winner of a draw to win a stunning
necklace from renowned jewellers Boodles, while a number
of items were auctioned off on the night, including a signed
Lions rugby jersey, tickets to Wimbledon, a leather jacket
and signed drumsticks from Glen Power of The Script and
a painting by renowned artist and painter Helen Steele.
The evening began with
a Corona and Echo Falls Spritz drinks reception in the foyer
of the hotel at 7 p.m., followed by a sumptuous four-course
meal in the ballroom. RTE newscaster Bryan Dobson acted
as MC for the night and GOAL CEO John O’Shea paid
tribute to all those who have helped GOAL to continue their
critical work in the developing world and thanked everyone
who attended and contributed to a successful fundraiser.
