The Kerryman
, 21st November 2007
A LISTOWEL man is soon to attempt another major world tour on bicycle. Gearoid Pierse is clearly over his epic bike journey from Moscow to Kerry, which he completed for charity in 2005. This time around he's cycling from Istanbul to Moscow, starting in May next and hoping to complete it in little over a month. As he bids farewell to the beautiful domes of the Turkish capital, Pierse will have nothing more than the power of his own legs to get him all the way back to Listowel. Undertaking the adventure for GOAL – with whom his brother, Richard, works in Honduras – Gearoid Pierse is looking for Kerry volunteers to join him in his quest. "At this stage, we are looking to recruit Kerry cyclists and very importantly a corporate donor to help us on our way to raising EUR10,000. Ideally we'd love to have a Kerry-based corporate donor and we hope there might be some company out there who would support us," Mr Pierse told The Kerry man.
If there's anyone out there with a similarly boundless sense of adventure to join Mr Pierse on his mammoth journey, simply log onto www.pierse.org/Cycle.html for details. |
