Star Chef Gerry Doyle will launch his much anticipated Standardised Cookbook at Gleeson's Townhouse and Restaurant, Roscommon this coming Friday, November 16 at 8pm. The well renowned chef extends an open invitation to everyone and admission on the night is 10 euro with all proceeds being donated to GOAL.

The evening wil be a celebration of the launch of the cookbook and will provide an opportunity to meet with Gerry and put a face to the creator of the exquisite food on offer at Gleeson's Townhouse and Restaurant, Market Square, Roscommon.

Wine and food will be served on the night along with some very special musical treats.

Gerry started his career at the age of 13 when he worked under Head Chef Tony O'Hare in the Fountain Blue and it was here that the seeds for his passion in food were sown.

He then went on to obtain a number of diplomas in London City & Guilds and worked in the Keadeen Hotel in Newbridge, Co Kildare and as a Commis Chef at The Greville Arms Hotel, Mullingar, Co Westmeath. After gaining professional post-graduate experience, the culinary world of New York beckoned and at the age of 20 he left Ireland for New York to further his career.

Gerry spent 13 years in the big apple, working as a chef and gained experience and an esteemed reputation as a superb master chef. He worked in many of New York's elite, in culinary circles, including the Plaza Hotel, sth Avenue, Central Park and the Museum of Natural History, where he was executive Chef. In 1988 he returned to Ireland with his family and opened his own restaurant, Tupelo, Ballymahon County-Longford.

Gerry is currently lecturing as well as partaking in a foundation Degree course in Tourism and Hospitality management as well as working as the Head Chef at Gleeson's Townhouse and Restaurant.

Gerry's cookbook includes an exclusive collection of delicious recipes all of which are available on the menu at Gleeson's Townhouse and Restaurant.
