GOAL student poetry competition

Longford Leader, 7th December 2007

Student poets of Longford get your pens and pencils ready... as there are prizes to be won! As the Christmas period reels us all into the frenzy of last minute shopping and over indulgence, Irish charity GOAL invites us to contemplate the possibility of Christmas in another country, where people are not as well off as we are. !

As GOAL celebrates its 30th birthday this year, in conjunction with the Longford Leader Student Page the charity is offering a range of prizes to be won by the writer of the best poem on the theme "Christmas in Africa".

Prizes include DVD's, T-Shirts, Caps and books as well as an additional prize for the overall competition winner of two tickets to the Ireland Vs Brazil game in Croke Park on February 6 – compliments of Longford Town FC and the FAI.

We look forward to receiving your entries before the deadline of Friday, December 14 and poems should be submitted by email to newsroom@longford-leader.ie.

Anything and everything will be accepted and considered and we encourage all ages of students to enter.

The winning poem will be published on the Student Page in the edition dated Friday, December 21 so there is more than just prizes at stake here... pride, publication and penmanship are also involved!

For further information on GOAL log on to www.goal.ie and for further details on the competition contact the Student Page Editor on 043 50533.
