The GOAL Ball – now a firm fixture on Mullingar's annual social calendar – is to take place on Sunday October 28 this year. The date was announced as the Mullingar Goal Ball committee revealed that Buckley's SuperValu has come on board as the main sponsors of this year's event.
"The generosity and goodwill of James and Anne Buckley, together with our corporate and associate sponsors and patrons have already given us a great boost as the momentum builds up for this year's eagerly awaited event," a spokesperson for the Ball committee said.
It was this kind of support and generosity that made the 2005 GOAL Ball such an outstanding success where EUR148,000 was raised for GOAL'S work with some of the most vulnerable people in the world.
"We once again need this same spirit and goodwill to raise much needed funds for the conflict in Sudan's violent Darfur region, where 250 thousand people lives are at risk," the spokesperson continued, adding that this year 2007, GOAL is thirty years serving the poorest of the poor.
The evening will commence with a champagne reception followed by a five-course meal and dancing. There will also be an auction and raffle. Tickets are EUR100 each. Contact any committee member to further discuss your support for this wonderful event in saving people's lives.
