Dramatic soap exit for Keith

Irish Daily Star, 20th February 2009

By Kathryn Rogers

FAIR City star Keith Duffy is set for a dramatic soap exit when a teenager turns up on Ringo's doorstep and announces she's his daughter!

Keith — who is bowing out of the top soap to pursue his Boyzone commitments — is set for big departure storyline in the coming weeks as his character heads off to Africa.

"I've got to concentrate on the Boyzone tour this year now so I couldn't commit to doing more storylines," said Keith.

"Fair City has been fantastic to work on. It's the first time in 15 years that I could go to work in this country and be home with my wife and family every night."

The storyline kicks off next Tuesday when girlfriend Cliodhna answers the door to a teenager called Gloria but refuses to leave a message for Ringo.

"Instead she goes to the hospital where Eingo works as a nurse and sees him for the first time," said a spokesperson.

"She breaks the news to Ringo that he is her father and she tells him her mother, Linda, is dead."

Twist

However, Ringo recalls that Keith also had a fling with Gloria's mother during their relationship.

"Ringo discusses taking a paternity test but Keith is not keen," added the spokesperson. "Keith just wants to turn his back on the whole thing."

The story takes another twist when Gloria's mum arrives alive and well and furious with her daughter.

The spokesperson revealed: "Cliodhna eventually orders both Keith and Ringo to take DNA tests."

But Ringo, who has been mulling over an offer to take up a GOAL volunteer position in Africa, decides the time is right to go and departs in a fury.
